Bearded Fish is a fishing lifestyle brand created by Andrew Augusto focused on simplifying fishing and making the activity more accessible to newcomers. Nobody is perfect but we try to make life a little easier to minimize frustration and give you a more enjoyable time outdoors!
Hawg Lake was a vision of mine for a long time. I've been an avid fisherman for a while now but even before then I was playing both video and table top games. When I started fishing, I found the concept of planning your gear and choosing which fish to target not too different from an RPG where you would be choosing which weapon or skill to use and which monster to be attacking. I've also become a big fan of board games like Everdell and JAWS, and took some inspiration from the event phase handling as well as the tableau building and token placement.
I tried making the game as accurate as possible when compared to real fishing. I also tried to make the game as accessible as possible, so that anyone who is possibly new to fishing or new to board games can easily play this. This is intended as a proof of concept, and I'd like to see this in a physical board game format.
